Thank you for this post! I usually stray from pop psychology from commentators (b/c I admit to be a total psychology snob & feel bad about that) but this was brief and helpful. It outlined some quick and tips about reducing contempt for your partner when you want something done and suggested specific and clear about what you want- 'guys like it concise and to the point'. They suggested that we, particularly women, save strong emotions for another time, rather than to pair them with a request. This reminded me of a psychologist I love named John Gottman, who studies thousands of couples and could predict with 90% accuracy which couples would stay together 10 years later, simply by listening to one conversation they had. He has pioneered couples study in the field. He came up with something very interesting, he calls it humorously THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE, these are the top 4 things that damage a relationship:

1. Criticism
2. Contempt
3.Defensiveness
4.Stonewalling

Actually, I will post more on this b/c I believe it's really a good topic!
Thank you,
Kellie Montgomery< LMFT
